About Commissions
For over 30 years I have worked closely with clients to help bring their ideas to life, and I welcome the opportunity to create a unique piece that is tailored to your specific needs and desires. The commission process typically goes like this:
- An exploratory conversation. We discuss your parameters regarding dimensions, materials, style preferences and budget, and identify themes and details of existing pieces in my portfolio that inspire you.
- Develop a design. Based on our initial discussion I will provide sketches and/or scale drawings to help visualize the piece. I will also offer options for materials and suggest details that will influence the look and function of the piece. I ask for a design fee at this stage which is commensurate with the complexity of the project.
- Create a project plan. Once we settle on a workable concept, I will outline a time frame and pricing structure for the piece. For projects that closely follow existing pieces, a firm price can be established. For something entirely new, a range or expected cost is given to allow for flexibility as the piece evolves.
